Nairobi Offers You The Best Of Kenya

Posted on 12 May 2018 by admin (0)

Nairobi is a name that everyone thinks of when they think of Kenya. If you are planning to visit the major countries in the continent of Africa, ensure that Kenya is on your list. And the best place to visit this country would be Nairobi. The city not only has an urban core, but the well known Nairobi National Park. It is a game reserve that is large and well known for seeing black rhinos as well as giraffes, lions and zebras. If you have always dreamt of the African safari, it would be a place where you can live that experience.

The wildlife experience can be varied here. Besides the Nairobi National Park where you can go on safari trips, there are other kinds of wildlife preserves to explore such as Hell’s Gate National Park. Interesting and scary as the name is, it denotes a Savannah ecosystem that gives you a ride through these grasslands as well as offers you rock climbing, hiking, camping and other outdoor experiences. The city also has a rescue center for giraffes as well as a nature park at the Giraffe Centre.

Nairobi has a rich cultural heritage owing to its rich history. Visit the Karen Blixen Museum, which was the old home of Blixen, author of “Out of Africa”. This farmhouse of the twenties has been turned into a museum where its original furnishings can be seen. Another place to see authentic and traditional items is the Bomas of Kenya. It has tribal villages preserved for display as well as houses an open air museum. Here one can experience music, performances and indigenous crafts.

The Maasai people are the main tribes in this area. Take a trip to the Ngong Hills, where hiking activities as well as safaris exist. The peaks are located in the Great Rift Valley. Other scenic places to visit around the city would be the Uhuru Park, which has national monuments as well as an artificial lake by the same name. The Uhuru Gardens Memorial Park commemorates independence of the country from the British Empire rule.

You can take some time off to check out the traditional art and craft items at Maasai market and modern city attractions like the cylindrical KICC tower, convention center of the city.
